10-31-17

Unlike many of my peers, I can officially say I was done with all of my November 1st college work before I got to school today, as a result, I had plenty of time to work on my thesis project, specifically my annotated and working bibliographies that are due this Friday. Even though I didn't have any pressing college deadlines, I spent the first 30 minutes of class entering in general information (name, address, major preference, etc) into the University of California and my other Common Application schools. After that, I continued compiling sources for my thesis project, finding four new ones and watching an interesting 10-minute video about muscles functionality at an organismal level. By the end of class I was able to successfully finish my working bibliography, complete with 17 sources and their appropriate citations. Now all I have to do is finish my 100-200 word responses for each by Friday.

10-27-17

Earlier this week, after emailing with a potential mentor, Jeremiah Campbell, the two of us decided to get in touch over phone, which happened to overlap with a college day in thesis. For the first half of class today, I struggled to find service to sustain a phone call but eventually succeeded and Mr. Campbell and I discussed my thesis plans, future communication plans, and where we will meet. After our phone call, I updated Mr. Correa on my mentor communication and began reviewing the remainder of my UT supplements in preparation to send them off this weekend. I proofread all 7 or so of them and am prepared to print them off and finalize them tomorrow. College here we come :)

10-25-17

It seems like yesterday that Mr. Correa was saying "November 1 is a month away".... now its six days away. Crazy. I've applied to three schools and today I finished my application for TCU, which I will be sending off tonight. In addition, I talked with Mr. Gerardo about several Common App questions that I had, which he cleared up for me. Finally, I drafted three more supplements for UT Honors and UT Scholarships. UT is really killing me. At least it was a productive day in thesis :)

Fortunately or unfortunately, November 1 is getting close. Just this past weekend I realized that applying to UT isn't everything I have to do... I also have to apply for scholarships and honors programs. As a result, I have 7 more supplements to write, 3 of which I drafted today in thesis. Additionally, Mr. Correa read my TCU supplements, to which I made his suggestions and now I am ready to submit that application this evening.

10-18-17

Today in thesis I updated my college resume as well as talked to Gerardo about sending teacher recommendation letters to schools. After finishing that, I worked on my two supplements for TCU and brainstormed on what to write for my four University of California supplements. Finally, I created an account and submitted my initial application for the National Eagle Scout Association scholarships on their website.

10-16-17

Today in thesis I looked over the annotated bibliography assignments in classroom and began working on it. I finished my working bibliography with the sources I already had, but I still need to find some more sources to get to the 15 minimum. Also, next time I will begin writing my annotations for each bibliography entry.

10-10-17

Today in thesis I talked to Ms. Marberry about questions I had on my Michigan State application and University of Texas at Austin application. I ultimately called both schools' admissions offices because neither Ms. Marberry or I knew the answers. I finished my Michigan State application and will submit it when I get home tonight. I also worked on my UT Austin application, finishing my extracurricular activity, awards, honors, and community service sections.

10-2-17

Today thesis was a college day. As a result, I worked primarily on my essays and supplements for my October 15th deadlines (UT, A&M, and Michigan State). I drafted a completely new supplement as well as edited the four other ones I had already written. Additionally, I edited my two essays based on suggestions Mr. Templet gave me today at lunch. Finally, I completed the personal information sections on the Apply Texas application, something that took way more time than I thought it would.
